VOLUNTEER FOR THE STURGEON RIVER CLEAN-UP MAY 10TH

Huron Pines AmeriCorps will be sponsoring a one day river clean-up of the Sturgeon River by the town of Wolverine on Saturday, May 10th from 11:00am- 3:00pm. This project is part of AmeriCorps Week and is open to the public. It will address the importance of river conservation. This is a great opportunity to be a part of an organization that instills community involvement and meet conservation minded people in your area.

The day will include a presentation by a Michigan Department of Natural Resources fisheries biologist and the collection of trash & debris for disposal and recycling. Participants will also engage in the spirit of volunteerism and learn about the impact of AmeriCorps. Lunch is provided.

Help us maintain the natural beauty of this “blue ribbon” stream. If you would like to participate in the event, please RSVP to Nathan Skibbe, Volunteer Coordinator at: volunteer@huronpines.org or (989) 344-0753 x 14.

Huron Pines AmeriCorps is designed to develop conservation leadership in Northeast Michigan. AmeriCorps Week is a weeklong, nationwide event designed to bring more Americans into service, salute AmeriCorps members and alums for their powerful impact, and thank the community partners who make AmeriCorps possible. The award is given to individuals and groups who the Chapter feels best exemplify the principles of Trout Unlimited regarding the conservation, protection, and restoration of coldwater resources. Over the years, the Chapter and Huron Pines have addressed many river issues and completed a significant number of conservation projects. We would like to thank the Chapter for the recognition.
